Import/Export Contacts into Horde or Roundcube Webmail App

Importing contacts

The Horde and Roundcube clients allow you to import contact lists. Follow the appropriate procedure below to import contacts for your webmail application.

This import procedure is based on an existing address book. Generally, this data may come from an older email client like Outlook or an exported file. Many clients will often have the option to export the address book. Horde supports multiple types of files for import that include:

  • Comma separated values (CSV)
  • Tab separated values
  • vCard
  • Mulberry Address Book
  • Pine Address Book
  • LDIF Address Book
Horde

To import contacts in Horde, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to Horde.
  2. In the top taskbar, click Address Book.
  3. Click the Import/Export icon.
  4. Select the source file format in the list box.
  5. To completely remove the existing address book and replace it with the imported contacts, select the Replace existing address book with the imported one checkbox.
  6. Click Choose File, and then select the file to import.
  7. Click Next.
  8. Review the import options:
    • If the first row of the file does not contain field names, clear the check box.
    • Confirm that the delimiter character and number of fields (columns) are correct for your file's format.
  9. Click Next.
  10. In the Imported fields and Available fields list boxes, match the imported field value with the correct field, and then click Add pair. Repeat this step for each field listed in the Imported fields list box.
  11. Click Next. Horde imports the contacts file.
  12. To confirm the import was successful, click the Browse icon and review the contact list in your address book.
Roundcube

To import contacts in Roundcube, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to Roundcube.
  2. Click Contacts.
  3. Click the Import icon.
  4. Click Choose Files, and then select the file to import.
  5. To replace the existing address book contacts, select the Replace the entire address book check box.
  6. Click Import. Roundcube imports the contacts file.

Exporting contacts

The Horde and Roundcube clients allow you to export contact lists. Follow the appropriate procedure below to export contacts for your webmail application.

Horde

To export contacts from Horde, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to Horde.
  2. In the top taskbar, click Address Book.
  3. Click the Import/Export icon.
  4. Under Export Address Book, select the export file format and the address book that you want to export.
  5. Click Export.
  6. Save the file on your local computer.
Roundcube

To export contacts from Roundcube, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to Roundcube.
  2. Click Contacts.
  3. Click the down arrow next to Export.
  4. Click one of the following:
    • To export all of your contacts, click Export all.
    • To export only the currently selected contact, click Export selected.
  5. Save the VCF file on your local computer.
